Welcome to Defying Gravity, a semi-realistic natural horse rpg!
There are no mutations, magic, or rainbow ponies here; the horses of the Homelands must carve out a life for themselves by their wits and strength alone. We have no cannons or "site-wide plot" to speak of as we've found that there are a ton of creative people out there and when our members are left to their own devices the plots stay fresh and fun for everyone. So if you're looking for a laid back site with no so called "unique" plot you must adhere to, Defying Gravity just might be the place for you!!

Little black hooves moved quickly and nimbly through the leave covered ground, crunching as they made their way. Above them were the half white half black legs that reached no higher then those of a pony. Charliee knew from a very young age he was different, but that difference was the same difference his parents shared. Only when they were gone did the young stud realize just how different they were. A striped mohawk of hair bounced about on top of his head as his gate became more collected, slowing to a walk and eventually a halt. There were hardly any leaves on the trees this late in the season, let alone apples, but still their sweet scent clung to the air. The little zebra dropped to his knees and rolled in the smell, perfuming his body with a sweetness that also radiated from his body.
Morrigan was a wee little thing, but she was not dumb. Maybe a little naïve, due to her lack of life experiences, but certainly far from ignorant and lacking any common sense. She knew what grounds where safe to explore without fearing for her life or honor, and what grounds she ought to stay very far away from. This is what led her to the river, Voldea as she had heard it called from the random passerby she had come across in her adventures. It was a slow paced river, but the banks and surrounding area were wide and open. It was a very relaxing atmosphere, which made Morrigan feel relieved. She could take some time to rest without worrying about her safety, finally.
The red dun mare, petite in stature and height, picked her way towards the slow paced river. Dropping her dark red muzzle to the water, she drank her fill before her deep brown eyes double checked the terrain around her. It was quiet here, though there was a peaceful atmosphere that eliminated any tension that could form. The little mare could feel the tense drain out of her, as if it was being swept away with the river. The silence was nice, for a while, but eventually Morrigan grew tired of it. All she wanted was a little fun, maybe an adventure or meeting a new face...Was that too much to ask for?

Charliee's ears were larger then the average equines, sticking up past his two toned mow-hawk and piking up nearly every sound. They swiveled as he laid upon the ground, listening to the birds late in migration, and the river not to far off from where he stood. The little zebra's throat grew dry just thinking about the running water. Quickly he moved to his feet, shaking off any remaining leaves that clung to his coat. With a snort and a bray, he was on his way, black eyes gazing off into the distance in search of the water his ears had already heard.
He was a playful youth, but still something held the stripped stud back from jumping in today. He walked to the water, getting right up to the edge and gingerly stepping into it. He didn't wish to get too wet this late in the season. For all he knew it could get cold over night and he'd freeze to death. Chuck took in big gulps, storing it away for his impending journey south.
ooc: bleck. I don't even know what to do with him. BABIES.
Morrigan had started humming a merry tune, feeling quite content with the world and how her life had been played out so far. Granted, the little red mare knew she was missing out on something – however, she could never really pinpoint what she was missing in her life. Certainly she’d find it, one day, and preferably soon. She disliked having this unknown element missing, whatever it was. She felt rather incomplete. Her brown eyes took in the fiery colored leaves of the trees around her, noting how the season seemed to match her coat and equally fiery colored mane and tail.
Her observation of the trees around her was short lived, however, as her attention was drawn to the unusual sight before her. Down the river a bit was a strange creature she had never seen in her life before. He certainly looked like a horse, even though he smelled a little off. He was shorter than her, but not by much, and covered in bizarre stripes with a strange tail. Curious, Morrigan began walking towards him. "Ho ye, guid mornin’!" she called out, her heavily accented, yet airy voice carried across the distance easily as she closed in. She may have been small, but boy did she have a loud voice.

His black maw dripped heavily as he came up for air. Large black nostrils gaped open. And then his silence was broken. Both ears along with a pair of equally soft eyes quickly moved to his left catching site of yet another equine. She was small, around his size from the looks of it, and brighter then the sun. "Hello, beautiful miss." Chuck never wasted time with the ladies, but he was always sure to be polite in his advances. "What brings you to the waters, miss?" It was a fair question, and considering how socially awkward the outcast breed could have been he was quite happy with his lightly troubled social skills. He nearly blushed as she approached. His little zebra tail swish back and forth anxiously at invisible pesky flies. "'tis quite a beautiful morning." He desperately tried to fill the silence. Lucky for Chuck, his pelt covered up most of his words. For some reason ladies loved it.
The vibrantly colored mare offered the strange looking stallion a bright, sunny smile that seemed to match her general disposition. Sure, she had never seen a horse like him before, but she also knew no strangers. Besides, he seemed kind enough so far. “Oh well just explorin’ and the like. Got a wee bit tired o’ muckin’ about the woods,” she replied warmly, finally coming to a stop at a respectable distance from him. She may know no strangers, but Morrigan knew to respect a stranger’s personal space. “Aye, it is,” she agreed, giving a curt bob of her head. “Ma name is Morrigan”
"Nice to meet you miss Morrigan." The stallion bowed, careful not to put his nose to close to the water's surface. Chuck had been socially awkward since he was very very young. Growing up different does things to you, especially when there's no one to look out for you. This, however, didn't effect his charm. He smiled joyfully at the brightly colored mare. She was pretty, and cute, with a little accent to match her glinting eyes. "My name's Charliee, but you can just call me Chuck." He laughed a little to himself. "You can basically call me whatever you want."
The vividly colored, petite mare grinned. “As it is to meet ye too, Chuck,” she replied brightly. Of all things, Morrigan loved meeting new horses and making new friends - never had she been one to know a stranger, after all. Her ma had called her a social butterfly since birth, and perhaps she had been right. “What brings ye to the river this mornin’?”

Chuck smiled at the mare's friendly ways. "Well I certainly wasn't expecting to see one so pretty as you here!" The little zebra shook his head, shaking out his mowhawk of a mane and sidestepping slightly in the water. He was always a bit shy in first meetings, filling the silences with forced words of charm. "Ta be honest, I was over in the apple trees and I got a little thirsty." With a deep breath Chuck took in his scent, the scent of apples. Good on ya. He thought to himself. Built in perfume. Another smile resonated on his face."And yourself?"
ooc: flirty mc Flirtson. I WANT YOU TO HAVE A STRIPY BABY.
If a horse could blush, Morrigan certainly would, if her red coloring wouldn’t hide it anyways. She did, however, have the grace to look bashful. Never had she been on the receiving end of compliments – her pa had made sure that stallions never got near her. Other times, she was often taken as too small to be courted seriously, she supposed. “There are apple trees?” she blurted out, before looking rather sheepish at the outburst. The little mare gave a slight shrug, her brow creasing briefly. “I was tired of standin’ around, ya know? ‘Erd life wasn’t what I thought it would be. I thought an adventure was needed.”
The petite mare became sheepish at his compliment and Charliee didn't feel quite so stupid anymore. The little zebra cocked his head to the side slightly before speaking. "Adventure is always good. Guess you could say I've never had a heard. Just my ma and da. I'm a tad different if ya haven't already noticed." He smiled again, his black nose wrinkling as he watched her. She made him happy, and that made him want to be around her. One hoof splashed at the water as he thought to himself.
The little mare chuckled, bobbing her head in a nod of acknowledgement. “Aye, I get what ya mean. It was just me ma and pa, too, for most of me life. Old age took ‘em some time ago,” she replied, a look of sadness flickering across her normally cheery face briefly. “I didn’t settle until recently. Always a wanderer at heart I suppose, eh?” she added with a throaty chuckle. The little mare cocked her head slightly, before smiling. “There’s nothin’ wrong with different. I like different.”
"I like that you like defferent. It can be hard sometimes..." The little stud trailed off before returning to his thought. "All the questions mostly." He smiled, extending his nose to her own. He didn't quite know why but this mare made him very happy, and he wanted to touch her to make sure she was real. "Maybe we can adventure together?" A wink. His charm was bubbling over, and with each moment he spent near Morr, he felt his shyness melting away.
“Different is always good, in my eyes. The world would be mighty borin’ if we were all the same,” she concluded, with a curt nod. The brief touch from the striped stallion did not bother her, when it normally should; an action Morrigan chose to go with rather than protest. A laugh bubbled forth, just as thick and husky as her accent, and befitting her small but booming presence. “Aye, I think I can agree to that,” she replied with a broad grin, reaching out to touch him with her own muzzle.
