Rose traveled through the midst of the Halete Forest till the trees gave way to a popular meadow that Rose had come to know quite well. The early summer had blessed the meadow with fresh grass and flowers in the beginning of the season that seemed to held out, since the cremello mare last visited. She chose to reside near the Voldea river; the grass was just divine and the company was sparse. The meadow, though rather large, had a more than proportionate amount of drifters, silly fillies, and stallions with low morals. Her visits here were rare, and the only reason she did visit was because she couldn’t resist a occasional peek because The Meadow in the summer was divine. Tall grasses and heather were speckled with purple foxgloves, yellow daisies, and occasionally the wild rose blanketed the field, and the sky that was oh-so-blue and white puffs of clouds dotted it. Really, she found it hard to complain about anything, if she could tune out those pesky flies and the hot ball of gas that burned her fair skin, and that’s why she liked it so much.
Today, Rose felt like a totally different horse. It was a rare day where the flies didn’t bug her half as much, the sun’s damaging rays soothed her with warm heat, and the meadow was devoid of equines. The prissy and sissy of her personality must evaporated into the atmosphere, leaving her to enjoy the warmth of the sun, and the rather uncharacteristic thought that she had nothing to do, and all the time in the world to do it. And tomorrow would same, as would the day after that, and that was okay with her.
