Welcome to Defying Gravity, a semi-realistic natural horse rpg!
There are no mutations, magic, or rainbow ponies here; the horses of the Homelands must carve out a life for themselves by their wits and strength alone. We have no cannons or "site-wide plot" to speak of as we've found that there are a ton of creative people out there and when our members are left to their own devices the plots stay fresh and fun for everyone. So if you're looking for a laid back site with no so called "unique" plot you must adhere to, Defying Gravity just might be the place for you!!

It was hard for Usijan to think sometimes, like the pounding of her heart was too loud. It felt like the islands natural music was just too rhythmatic, it lurched her into a trance and wouldn't let go. The mare took a deep breath, but instead of air rushing in it was smoke. Usijan coughed as her eyes flew open, the forest was dark but not unnaturally so. She shook her head with a sigh, these 'powers' she apparently had were just a bother, not a gift as her old herd would have her thinking.
The rhythmic thrumming of the forest was coming back to her. She stamped a hoof angrily," Fine, This one will leave now!" she yelled at the forest though it didn't stop all the birds and insects from playing their song. She turned and headed for the coast, hoping the sound of waves would heal the ever growing headache she had.

OOC: I am sorry this is crap, I had a hard time figuring her out.
The black and white mare had lived her entire life on the islands, and she'd never loved any jungle as she had her birthplace - Kalala. The mare walked with a certainty and fluidity that screamed native islander, her ears always perked for new arrivals. Just now, a parrot caught her eye. Tilting her head at the blue bird, Koko got as close as she knew she could before scaring it off, taking in each beautiful color in its tail. "Beautiful," she managed, frightening the bird into spreading its wings and fluttering off.
Koko's eyes turned back to her small path. She kicked up clods of mud as she pranced through toward the beach. Her expression of her lonesomeness was not to wallow in misery but instead to seek out newcomers on the beach. Few natives lived on Kalala, so the mare often had to rely on adventurous souls for company... When those were in short supply, as in the summer months, Koko made good friends with the island's other creatures. That or she visited the larger isle...
Hearing the voice of a stranger, Koko perked up. The words were strange to her... She let out a silvery, feminine whinny in response to whatever she'd heard and whisked off to meet this equine.
"Excuse me, Miss... Who are you?" she asked of the rather frighteningly-colored mare she'd never seen before on her island.

Usijan paused as she heard the sound of another and without really thinking she returned the silver tone with one of her own. She closed her eyes for a second then turned to where the stranger was coming from. She was a rather plain mare, mostly black save the thick band of white around her middle. She was a tiny little thing, though she looked to be around the same age as Usi, she looked slightly frightened, it brought a tiny smile creeping onto Usi's face.
She bowed to the mare in greeting but took a moment to reply to the mare's question. "I am Usijan, greetings." Usi paused a moment and looked the mare over, "If you will excuse me I must get to the coast." Without waiting for a reply she turned and continued on her way. Something nagged at her to stop though, she tried to ignore it but it pestered ever on. After a moment she turned back to the mare and said, " I would love some company though."

Kokopelli kicked up her hooves with excitement as she approached the stranger. It was a mare - surely she meant no harm to the island or its natives. Koko felt no negative energy in the air of Usijan, save for the fact that she didn't seem to want to stick around. Did she not find the jungles of Kalala welcoming enough? Had she really been there for a while and Koko simply hadn't noticed? The latter was surely false. Not much got past the tiny mare, especially when it came to newcomers.
The mare's ears perked as Usijan asked for company. What were acquaintances for?? "You may have it!" Koko hurried beside the brown and white mare, eager to hear her story. Kokopelli had always been a curious little thing, wanting to know everyone's life journeys, including adversities fought against. "Tell me, Miss Usijan, from where do you hail?"
Koko looked up at the mare with pristine, exotic, cocoa brown eyes, anxious to read every movement her new friend might make. There was no greater joy in Koko's life than learning about life outside of her islands. She knew all there was to know about her homeland... What about everyone else's?

Usi smiled at the smaller mare's obvious joy and excitement. Her enthusiastic nature was a nice change from what the mare was used to. Koko's question, though, made the smile slip away. Her past wasn't something she liked to think about, but she supposed simply stating where she had come from wasn't going to bring up bad memories. She stopped her pace and looked back at the black and white horse, studying her for a moment before answering," I hail from an island similar to these, though a bit smaller and a bit cooler." Her tone was calm, but rather emotionless, almost cold. She gave the small mare a stern look, as if to say, that was that and no more questions about her past would be answered.
Usijan continued her brisk pace towards the coast, and as she got ever closer to the lulling waves her stress rolled off her shoulders. Usi flicked her ear back to catch what the small mare was saying beside her," Kokopelli?" She said it slowly, enjoying the sound," That's a very beautiful name." Usi smiled back at her, hoping that her snap earlier hadn't done any damage to their budding relationship. A sigh of relief escaped her as they broke the treeline. The scene was beautiful, mist rolled into the bay in great clouds and the waves slowly lapped the shore. There was nothing like this on her island and the sight of it always took her breath away.
Koko listened intently as she followed alongside the larger mare. Usijan seemed to have a troubled past, to say the least. The black and white mare always lamented on those who had had less happiness in their lives than she had. Kokopelli had always loved her life on the islands and found little that dissatisfied her. She loved to play, she loved to sing, and she loved to swim. The filly inside her would surely never grow up. Usijan brought the small equine down from space and into the real world just from her expression and air. As depressing as it was to see, Koko knew this mare had lived in a world unlike her own, and she was willing to learn more, if Usijan wanted to share. She would not, however, begin to pry. How was she going to make friends like that?
She frolicked gently with a small whinny at Usijan's compliment. She had always loved her name. Koko responded "Thank you!" and settled down. Glancing around, the black and white mare caught a glimpse of a palm tree in front of them laden with coconuts. The tree was pulled down by the burden and was closer than ever to the small horse. Looking to Usijan, it would obviously be easier for her to reach. A mischievous smirk on her lips, Koko nudged her new acquaintance in the shoulder with her own shoulder.
