Nakita

Nakita's head was low and her breathing slightly labored. The black mass of meat and coat laying in the sand before her had placed her in a spot of conflicted turmoil. She watched as the bundle moved and squirmed in her absence. Being that it was her first child, and being that she was so young, there wasn't much to expect from her as a mother. She was clueless. Instinct had kicked in with the pain, and now that the pain was gone she found herself suppressing the instinct that ran through her veins. It had been five, no six minutes since the child had hit the ground, and still Nakita stood at a distance, watching, waiting.
It was a girl. Nakita knew that this could easily become a problem. Her instinct overpowered her ability to suppress everything causing her to take a step forward. Her head still hung low as she approached the female bundle that struggled in the sand. Stillness fell over the pair as Nakita's nose touched her daughters skin for the first time. Quickly she broke the silence, flinching back and sending her daughter into a fit of fear. Instinct again took over as she touched the baby once more.
The inner war within Nakita was physically visible as she forced herself to begin the task of cleaning the coal black filly. "Shhh." She managed to mumble out, her voice warm but firm as the task continued. "You must look beautiful. You have a lot to live up to." She said in a tired voice as she finished. An autumn chill began to set in as the night cloaked them in darkness. It wouldn't be long now, Nakita thought, lowering herself to the sand beside her soft, sleeping daughter.
"A lot to live up to." She ran her lips over the baby's ears, forcing herself to stay awake, waiting for Angelus.
ooc: Yuck. I cannot believe how hard that was. It'll get better.
