Regina & Hadrian
Life had been uneventful – peaceful even – in the time from (finally) introducing Angelus to Andromeda, and meeting their enlarged clan, to conceiving a second child by Angelus, to said child’s birth. Not just any child, either, but a son. The son she had been longing for, since Henry’s death. The perfect son – a perfect image of health and vigor. He had been nothing but lively, if troublesome, during her pregnancy; constantly moving and kicking, letting her know he was definitely alive and well. While her pregnancy with Andromeda had been peaceful, her pregnancy with her son, her precious Hadrian, had been tumultuous at best. Her moods shifted wildly with him, she grew larger than she ever had with her previous pregnancies. She was in constant pain and always tired, but now...Now she would not trade the trials and tribulations she endured with her pregnancy with Hadrian for anything in the world. Fate had graced her with a perfect, beautiful son after a labored birth. Not even within an hour of being brought into the world, he was standing on slightly shaky legs beside her with a look of fierce determination.
Her precious, dark son would be something to be feared – Regina was sure of it. He would become a strong, handsome stallion with age. She would groom him into the perfect Prince, one Angelus would be proud of. She would not fail like she had failed with Henry. No, Hadrian was her second chance, and she would not let it go so easily.
As Regina’s thoughts were brought to the present, her inky black eyes settled on her son with a slight smile. He was only a few months old now, given the change of seasons. Despite his young age, it was clear from the start he would be a very bright, intelligent creature as he explored every nook and cranny he could find in Baahir. There was no doubt that Hadrian was her son, either, for his coloring took strongly after her own coat, just several shades darker with hints of white ticking along his sides just like his mother. His brown eyes glittered with excitement as he bounced back to the lighter grulla mare, heeding her call to return. As she caressed the top of her son’s head, lavishing him with affection, Regina could only wonder when Angelus would find them to see how their second child had turned out. She knew word would have spread quickly, since while Hadrian was not his first son, Hadrian was the first healthy son. And the son of a Queen.
