Welcome to Defying Gravity, a semi-realistic natural horse rpg!
There are no mutations, magic, or rainbow ponies here; the horses of the Homelands must carve out a life for themselves by their wits and strength alone. We have no cannons or "site-wide plot" to speak of as we've found that there are a ton of creative people out there and when our members are left to their own devices the plots stay fresh and fun for everyone. So if you're looking for a laid back site with no so called "unique" plot you must adhere to, Defying Gravity just might be the place for you!!

Tendrils of dank, murky air coiled around him with all the ease of a lifetime friend. He promised himself he wouldn't return to the moor that birthed him; Promised himself he'd stay away, and create a new life for himself. And yet he stood at the very edge of his childhood home with indecision written across his callow face.
The familiar perfume of swamp moss and milkweed had lured him back. He'd been away for weeks, wandering the snow-covered plains in search of a fresh start. A rolling field here, a creekside meadow there- nothing compared to the comforting shadow he loved so dearly. The swamp was calling him home. Dare he answer?
His front hooves pressed into sodden earth, the tar-like infection that spread from the marsh, as he leaned to peer further into the dark. A canopy of moss hung from crossing treelimbs, and beyond ten steps the world dissolved into nothingness. The swamp's gaping maw loomed before him, and he was so very close to stepping inside.
Home was not a well-known concept to Eydis. Her entire life had been spent as a nomad from the time she could walk until now. She had never truly been a part of a herd nor stayed somewhere with the intent of never leaving. While she knew other horses did it, she could not wrap her mind around the idea of why anyone would ever want to just stay in one place. She liked to be able to just wake up one day and leave with no intention of coming back but the possibility was there. She assumed she got this trait from her mother, who, despite loving a stallion who in turn loved her, could not stand to live in his territory with his herd. So her mother had raised her in the nomadic lifestyle, occasionally bringing her back to her father so he could see how she was growing before setting off again. That was how Eydis was taught and that's how she remained.
The desert had been awful. She was surprised she'd even made it back out but, again, there were kind horses that she had passed that had given her directions and one had even been generous to take her a short distance. Now she was making her way through the swamp. Gods only knew why she chose this direction. There were too many deadly things here for her liking so she never stayed long. Not to mention the mucky waters and dank, humid air. She felt smothered. 'I can't wait to be back where the air is clean.' She thought as she mistakenly walked through a cloud of mosquitoes and happened to suck a few into her nose. Coughing and snorting, she cursed and charged forward. 'I hate bugs! The sooner I'm out of here the better!'
Here and there she mis-stepped and ended up with a hoof sucked into the mud but she tried not to let it slow her down. Eventually she looked up to see clear daylight on the other side of the moss and vines. 'Finally!' And she picked up speed. Bursting out from the foliage she took a large gulp of air. Slowing down and then trotting to a stop, Eydis paused to look around and noticed a golden stallion standing on the edge. She didn't say anything but just watched for a few moments, not wanting to interrupt.
{ooc} I'm sorry if I read your post wrong but I made mine so it's like they're right on the edge of the swamp and she just got out of it?
