Winter had never been unkind to Orut. This season, winter had been especially kind – in many ways – to Gideon and his small, yet growing, herd. Their numbers had increased before the arrival of the new season, and yet again once winter had set in. at eight years old, the pale stallion was finally something he never imagined himself ever being: a father. The mare who he had found in the Freelands, that had at first been terrified him, had given him a gift he had yet to receive in his life time; a daughter. While still very young and new to the world, Gideon knew that no matter where Fate took his precious red haired daughter, he would always do what he could to protect her. There was no force on this earth that would ever harm her, if he had anything to do about it.

Blue eyes watched his brightly colored daughter explore the new sights before her. It was the first time she had set foot into the peninsula, and it was strikingly clear his daughter had a penchant for exploring and feeding her curiosity. On unsteady legs, Gideon carefully monitored Margaux explore the world around her. While he knew she was safe from harm, both because of his presence and being in the peninsula, he did not want to take chances. The peninsula was a secluded hideaway from the rest of Orut, surprisingly free of predators and rather warm despite the winter season. Despite the lack of predators, Gideon was not foolish enough to believe that no one else could find them.

Harmonie's eyes wandered aimlessly over the foggy area. She had not yet grown bored with it; in fact she wished this area was even more secluded to make it just that much more mysterious. She simply adored this land and felt so at home here. Despite having been here barely more than a couple of weeks she prayed that she would never have to leave this land. Never had she felt such an attraction to an area, never had she felt embraced by the land itself. In her heart she knew there must be some reason for the appeal but she scarcely even cared for it. She just knew she desired to stay. With refreshed curiosity she picked her way through the forest debris, avoiding the twigs as best as she could to test her stealth and abilities to move silently. She moved through the Cevelt Peninsula today. There was a difference in temperature here, a warmth that the rest of Orut did not possess. It was somewhat pleasant but the mare barely registered the sensation. She was much more intrigued by the way her body sprung from one leg to another in a rather elegant way. Her neck was arched so that she could see around herself, and her tail swished as she balanced on her hind legs as she leapt forward over the various minuscule obstacles that could give her away. Her energetic gait somewhat resembled a collected trot except her legs sometimes extended in order to avoid some of the larger sticks and she popped over some of them as though they were jumps just for the fun of it.

Slowly her entertainment in creeping around faded, her muscles becoming more resistant to the controlled and accurate movements. Decreasing her pace to walk she stopped trying to avoid the twigs and quite happily trod on them. In contrast to the amount of noise pollution she was making before, which was nearly none, there was a stark difference that clearly announced exactly where she was. To her ears it was very loud though it wasn't... at least it wasn't until she started deliberately stepping on all of the twigs and sticks she could find. It was a peculiar sensation. The feeble appendage from the tree would bend under the pressure from her hoof and would suddenly snap, emitting noise as it broke into two. It was quite satisfying as well. The buckskin lass continued with her playing until the scent of two equines crossed her nostrils. She could identify one of them, the stallion's, more clearly because it was one that was all over the forest though she had never met him. Ears pricked she followed the trail curiously to see where it led her, the crunching of twigs beneath her hooves quietening a little bit as she ceased paying attention to the floor due to her focus being elsewhere.
