Some Days
I CAN'T EVEN TRUST MYSELF
Ryker has heard the rumors. As green orbs open the the world that morning, he knows today is the day. A feeling in his gut, one could say. Or maybe his heart, or his mind. But it is there. The stallion slowly lifts himself from his makeshift bed of long, plush leaves collected on the ground. He shakes his crown, pale forelock falling across his eyes before he tosses his head to push it back. A calm air emanates around him as he smiles, audits relaxed as he listens to the familiar critter calls of his island.
Taking his time, Ryker makes his way out of the forest and onto the beach that ringed the island. He takes in a large inhale, the salt slightly stinging his nose- only making him smile again. He lifts his head high, a bellow escaping his lips before his eyes focus on the smaller island that is not far off. "If anyone wishes to join me in my journey, they may," voice ringing loud and clear.
Excitement rings through his veins as he eagerly plunges into the water, tall lean body fighting against the ocean, legs kicking fluidly as he settles into a good pace. Ryker has not made this journey in awhile, and he kicks himself for never making an alliance, but he didn't need it now, did he? Although it has been awhile since he fought against these tides, his body is strong and fit and he reaches Kalala faster than expected. The light chocolate stag's mind grows numb as the new scents fill his nares.
There is no rush, Ryker meanders slowly, splashing in the water and ambling around the examine things at will. This island is much smaller than Inoa, so Ryker has circled it twice before noon. The sun shone bright in the sky, hot against his back while the cool winds from the ocean tugged at his hair. There are scents of others here- were they hiding? I am nothing to fear.
"Argus, I have come to protect your land as I do my own." His voice echoes through the whole island, and blind to anyone who might be watching, he bows his head to the current Chief. A smile fills his face and green eyes are bright with passion and excitement, a content sigh slipping from him as he closes his eyes, waiting for the stallion to appear.
