Aziz
It had been such a long time since the desert had been home. Almost a lifetime for some of his tribe, including some of his own children. It had been since he was in the prime of his life; strong, full of fire and life, without a single fear in the world. The tribe had been flourishing under his leadership, the amount of foals peaking during such a golden age. When it looked like they would become a monumental power in the political game of the lands, they were wiped out. Chased out of their lands and slaughtered along the way. Children were lost, families were fragmented...The Asil had lost everything that terrible day.
Since that day, Aziz had been quietly waiting, patiently planning, and dreaming of the day they could return. And what a glorious day it had been. His old bones no longer ached. He no longer felt like the aging stallion he was, despite the protests of Malaika, and took to actively patrolling his lands and even sparring. Sparring. Such a concept was not thought to be possible for him, due to his age and aching bones. But now he could battle, like a Malik ought to. He could proudly defend the scattered remains of their tribe.
They all were happy to be home, that much was for certain. His sons took to the land like they had been living here all of their lives; Malaika had a harder time, but eventually adjusted all the same. It was like they had never left.
At such a thought, Aziz grinned happily. The corners of his ashy lips crinkled, betraying how age and time had not been entirely kind to the weathered and scarred stallion. While the high noon sun was treasured, the shade was even more so. The stallion felt contentment as the shade from the palm trees dappled across his back, easing the burn of the sun to his skin. While the desert was their home, the oasis was the true home of the Asil. The old stallion lowered his scarred muzzle to the cool, clear water, drinking his fill before raising his head once more. Deep brown eyes remained locked onto the horizon, while his other sense remained on alert. Any of the Asil who remained scarred to the four winds would know where to return to, for no doubt they had heard of the return of the tribe to the desert. And when they come, Aziz would be waiting for them
status: complete
notes: Any Asil are welcome to the thread, or those wishing to return/join the herd are also welcome!
