Welcome to Defying Gravity, a semi-realistic natural horse rpg!
There are no mutations, magic, or rainbow ponies here; the horses of the Homelands must carve out a life for themselves by their wits and strength alone. We have no cannons or "site-wide plot" to speak of as we've found that there are a ton of creative people out there and when our members are left to their own devices the plots stay fresh and fun for everyone. So if you're looking for a laid back site with no so called "unique" plot you must adhere to, Defying Gravity just might be the place for you!!

Darkness spread as a thick blanket over the forested land, light from the moon shining intermittently through the treetops and onto the thick mist beneath. The forest itself was rather quiet and still, not so much as a peep from the birds that had nestled down for the night. Veneera was happy for that, at least - crunches and rustling nearby would probably put her even more on edge than she already was. As it was, the silence itself was unnerving, the mist dampening her senses. Nearly blind and deaf because of her surroundings, Veneera turned black eyes warily, moving as silently as she could through the underbrush.
Veneera wasn't looking for trouble, walking in the dead of night onto another herd's land. In all honesty, she didn't want to be noticed at all. She was bone-weary and needed shelter for the night, and she planned to be out in the morning without anyone the wiser. Veneera stopped next to a tree, allowing her head to lower a little. It wouldn't be a restful sleep, but it would be enough.

Night time was one of the times of the day that Gideon enjoyed the most. Everything was quiet, less hectic; the sounds of animals settling in for the night and mothers singing lullabies was a comforting thing to listen to on his nightly patrols. Despite the overwhelming darkness and mist, Gideon knew his way about the forest just as well as he did during the day. How could he not, when he was a child of this very forest? Where most horses would be stumbling around blind, Gideon was able to walk with ease and know exactly where he was.
Or in this case, know exactly when an intruder crossed the borders. It seemed his nighttime patrol was about to be rather fruitful.
He could see her well before she would spot him. She reeked of the world outside of Orut, which was not too surprising, given how she had blundered around as if she was blind. It took quite some time to adjust to the mist, even Gideon had to admit. Giving a whinny, alerting the mare to his presence, his pale body cut through the blanket of mist easily. Blue eyes watched her warily upon stopping at a respectful distance. “Welcome to Orut. I am Gideon, King of the forest. What brings you here?” he spoke, his deep, thunderous voice remaining rather neutral despite his misgivings to intruders. She was a mare, so at the very least, he could be somewhat polite until he knew of her intentions.
