THE RULES
A general OOC overview:
Defying Gravity is a civilized site, people! We have rules and regulations just like everyone else and we expect that you read through and abide by them just as you would any other roleplay site.
- BE NICE. Smile and the world smiles with you. Put your fight face on and we’ll send you packin’.
- BE RESPECTFUL. The last thing others want is you raining on their parade. Discrimination or just general unkindness with NOT be tolerated.
- NO ONE LIKES CANNED MEAT. Spammers will be disposed of quickly.
- DON’T BE GREEDY. One account per person, please.
- HAVE COMMON SENSE. Only an silly person would post in the IC boards before their character was accepted…
- HAVE FUN. If you are caught not having the time of your life, you will be discharged. Not even kidding on this one.
A general IC overview:
Like I’ve said before, have common sense. Don’t do anything you wouldn’t want others to do to you, yadda yadda.
- NONE OF THIS GOD-MODDING CRAP. Unless you have permission from another player and you can prove that you do, god-modding, power-playing, and meta-gaming are strictly prohibited.
- WAIT YOUR TURN. Before you can roleplay, you must post a character application in the Registration area and have it accepted by a member of our staff.
- HAVE SOME CLASS. Nothing too graphic please – language or otherwise. We’re keepin’ it PG-13 here. This especially goes for mating and fighting. There is always the threat of the site being shut down if the Proboard gods deem a thread too inappropriate.
- THINK OF THE CHILDREN. Foals created younger than two years old must have a designated caretaker to survive. Those younger than three months must have a lactating female for a caretaker.
- QUALITY OVER QUANTITY. This is a rule that I personally worship. We do expect effort on the author’s part when it comes to the content in a post, though we do not have a word count. We understand writer’s block. Trust us.
- THE BEAUTY OF PROPER ENGLISH. No wolfspeak. It’s just silly.
- GO CRAZY... WITHIN REASON. There is no character limit here, though we do ask that you consider only making as many as you can handle.
- FOLLOW BY EXAMPLE. Please use our templates when we ask you to. You’ll thank us later.
- NO MAGIC. I certainly hope this is self-explanatory.
- LIQUID TIME. A character can have more than one thread going on at a time. However, try not to have a horse in two different corners of the territories, please. Unrealistic.
- LET'S DO THE TIME WARP... Seasons last 2 weeks (exactly 14 days) so a year IC is 8 weeks long (exactly 56 days). Look to the calender to see when the season changes are coming up.
- GUESS WHAT? We don’t have breeding or birthing seasons here. Be smart about breeding though. Those born in winter are less likely to survive than those born in any of the other three seasons.
A general horse overview:
- Realism is key; no colors or patterns that could not exist in real life. No purple horses with polka dots.
- The maximum height for any horse is 22.0hh Realism once again.
- Have mercy on your horse, no companion animals that could potentially kill an equine.
- Equines created that are a year old or younger must have a guardian. Contact another player for guardianship.
- We do not go by breeds here. Body types will get you as close to a target breed as needed.
- Horses here are measured in hands, as they are in real life. One hand = four inches. Also, hands are measured in .1, .2, and .3 increments. Once you hit .4, you're a whole hand taller!
- Your horse may not live longer than 25 years. Unrealistic, m'dears.
- You need not post a birthing or death thread for your horses. It's always fun when you do, but it is not absolutely necessary.
Stallions:
- Any male horse over the age of three
- Can claim mares
- Can claim lands
- Can fight with other stallions or mares for any reason
Mares:
- Any female horse over the age of three
- Can fight with other mares or stallion for any reason
- Can have one pregnancy per IC year
- CANNOT challenge for land
- If a mare is claimed by a stallion she MUST go with him OR fight him for her freedom.
Foals:
- A horse that is one year old or younger is considered a foal.
- Foals must remain with their guardian until they turn one.
- CANNOT fight -except in play- or challenge for anything
Breeding:
Thievery:
Claiming/ Challenges:
- To claim an unclaimed mare a stallion must stake his claim IC, all it takes is one thread.
- To claim an unclaimed land a stallion must post a claiming thread in the board he wishes to claim ownership of.
- To obtain a land that already has a lead a stallion must post an IC challenge thread in that land.
- The lead stallion has three days to respond to the thread, if he does not the challenger wins by defualt
- After the challenging thread is taken care of
- See Fighting Rules
